"These are a few of my favorite things..."
If there’s something that helped me along the way, I’m going to share it with you, and as always, tell you the reason WHY it helped me.
Some things will be permanent fixtures on this tab, and I'll add new ones along the way. Maybe one day, I’ll even be able to offer discounts on my favorite things... I think that’s called a goal...
Be conscious. Too much screen time can cause more problems than you'd think! Headaches, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, irritability, chronic neck pain, and lack of physical activity are just a few. iPhone users can set limits on their phones, such as a certain time restriction for daily use of social media apps. The phone can be set to automatically change to an orange filter for your bedtime, which can make a huge difference if you have trouble falling asleep!
Meditation. It's intimidating. But, you can learn to use meditation for achieving a goal, nailing a performance or presentation, relieving insomnia, managing anxiety, reducing symptoms of ADD/HD in children, improving relationships, and more. You can retrain your brain. Two of my favorites for anxiety and insomnia are: "Meditation Oasis" by Mary and Richard Maddux, and "Meditation Minis" by Chel Hamilton for when you are short on time.
From the inside, out. Maintenance of a healthy mix of gut bacteria is essential for digestion, bowel heath, immunity, mood regulation, and more. These are my personal favorite probiotics! VSL#3 is the higher priced one ($50-$60) and the NOW brand is much less expensive, but I find it to be almost equally effective. Worth it. Yep, therapy. On a couch, telling a stranger all your details. There may be a few people on Earth who don't need a therapist, and who are thriving all on their own. But as for the other 90% of us - we are masters at distracting and repressing - and it steals so much. I believe in it, and I have spent hundreds of hours on the couch myself. This book right here. (I wish I could put hand clap emojis). There have not been many books that have affected my life in such a profound way as this one. Insomnia is a beast.
